This video was taken with a cell phone/camera by the guys with the Evo. Kinda long cuz the guy taped the prep and all. Vette wins in the end by 3 cars.

Well you can not tell who won from the vid, but one thing for sure, that guy driving the Vette knows how to launch. headbang.gif

It is an Evo 8. Supposedly the car is a 550 hp car. It was quick as hell though....so I believe it. The vette is mine. I appreciate the compliment on the launch.

The comments are funny if you have the time tro read them.

That launch was outstanding, I'm curious regarding suspension mods and tire selection. bigear.gif

I don't really talk about the mods on my car. But suspension is stock and I run a BFG drag radial. I tried the Nitto's and thought they sucked. Mickey Thompsons are awesome but expensive. The BFG works well and is affordable. Other than that...I practice my holeshots when I can.. then experiment with temps, psi, surfaces, and stuff so I always have a good idea of what rpm to launch my car at. I also try a dry launch before I race to see how my car responds.

If you like the comments...check out the comments on the race with the same Evo vs my buddies E55 Benz. Some kids start arguing with each other....freaking hilarious!!! My buddy lost that race so I raced just to get the money back. Kinda fun anyway.

Holeshot 101 will be held in April sometime....I'll send you an invite. tongue.gif Honestly.....I've beaten much faster cars than mine solely based on driving. Learning your car is a huge advantage.

That was a great launch. I recently went for a ride in my buddies brand new modded EVO9. He says he's making about 325 awhps. It was really quick from 0-80, so I know yo had to be on your game.

Good kill.

Nice race, and as everyone has already said, excellent launch.

I can't tell from the vid: 6 speed?

The cool thing about this particular race is that it was done from a dig...which you don't see anymore. That's where the real skill comes into play. I have an enormous amount of respect for these kind of racers. I am not all that good of a launcher myself, and solely do running freeway runs. Rolling races are more a test of who's got the most power and a particular RPM/speed. There's not much skill involved...which is why it is easy for people like myself to race this way.

But launching, especially against an AWD monster is a whole 'nuther ball park. Great job.

My car is a 6 spd. Thanks for the kind words. I like highway runs too but but nothing beats the 1/4 miles in my opinion. It's not all car like you said.... a lot of driver skills come into play. None of the guys I run around with are into highway runs...so I never got too into it. My crew...Straight Blast Racing is all 1/4 mile cars. I'd like to hook up with SpdKilz from Shocker Racing this summer and runs with some of his guys though.
