Well, I haven't had more fun today than I've had in MONTHS!!
Actually, I haven't been having ANY fun.. It's a long story but I cant really do much for health reasons and have my newly set up road race car sitting in the garage doing nothing. I've never even hit the nitrous yet because the Pocono North track didnt have a straightaway! I started chatting with SpeedyD from the CF. He's got a kick ass C5 with a forged LS6, APS twin turbo kit and meth. We decided to meet up as he's somewhat local to me. Well, we raced a bunch of times and I've got 4 of them on tape. The camera was faced towards the front because I thought that's where he'd be all the time! Turns out the LS3 + N20 is torque as hell and the car did real well. I didnt win them all (I think 3 out of 4) but all in all, I'm very happy and it was great meeting SpeedyD! He's a great guy! I'm guessing there will be a few more videos to follow, but this is what we've got so far. http://corvettekillstories.com/photogaller...TT_Corvette.wmv I'm gunna be seriously hurtin' for the next 2 days, but it was TOTALLY worth it! -------------------- 2000 WHITE FRC - A few bolt.. in and on's..

Dave that was a lot of fun today!!! Great meeting you and your car goes like hell!! I wish we thought ahead to put the camera so it showed the side mirror. Your extra cubes and N20 really helped in the lower RPM take off!! It must have felt like a rocket cuz you were gone!! I guess that's 1 of the down sides of a six speed, lower compression and turbo's is waiting for the spool. We'll have to try again from a dig or with me "brake boosting" it to try and level up the first part of the race. Regardless, it was a good time!! Dan |

We'll have to meet up soon so I can get a blast with the N20! Definately! Lemme get the bottle refilled first! Seriously though, if you can get into boost quicker, I'll be in serious trouble. IF we did a run starting at 100+ I'm sure you'd just pull away. Unfortunately, I'm not crazy enough for that -------------------- 2000 WHITE FRC - A few bolt.. in and on's..

Man that looks like a lot of fun!
I have observed on these N2O cars that they pull really hard at the hit. That would be a real thrill to me. It does appear that the turbo car is potentially quite a bit faster, just needs a little boost management. Both great cars either way. -------------------- ![]() 1985 L98 stock 225HP/330TQ TPI. Ok, so I guess I've been in a cave or something. Dave, what are you running now? I remember saying you bought a track car but that is one serious ride.... wow.. nice runs for both cars. Thanks Tony! After the fiasco I had with the convertible, I took some time off to pay some bills and try to get healthy. Both seemed to work, at least for a little while so I bought that 2000 C5 White FRC (hardtop) about 6 months ago? I send it off to Dr. Phil in Detroit to turn the car into a road race car. It's basically an LS3 (2008 vette engine) with forged internals, a road race cam, N20 (for emergencies), T1 sway bars and a built trans with a Textralia clutch If you look at the Corvette Track Racing section, you'll see me at the track with the car basically bone stock, and then again with it modified (in a different thread) The plan was to road race the car a lot, as much as I could afford, but I unfortunately got very sick again (had an operation) and haven't raced it since that first time. I can't leave the house long without getting really tired and/or a lot of pain so SpeedyD was kind enough to arrange some fun for me that didnt require me to go on a really long drive. I just woke up today and I can hardly move because of yesterday. But I'd so it again in a heartbeat! Hopefully I'll be better for next year so I can really hit some tracks hard. I'd like to do some standing mile stuff, a lot of road racing and maybe even the one lap! -------------------- 2000 WHITE FRC - A few bolt.. in and on's..

Well, you certainly have one bad ride now, that's for sure. I'll bet that built LS3 was EXPENSIVE!!!!! I love the sound those LS motors make at WOT... sound angry and mean as hell (I'm guessing the Nitrous also helps in that department).
Take care of yourself and get healthy!!!!! |

I love the sound those LS motors make at WOT... sound angry and mean as hell (I'm guessing the Nitrous also helps in that department). Take care of yourself and get healthy!!!!! Thanks Tony, I'm working on the health department. It always could be a lot worse, but between the infusions, injections, meds, physical therapy, etc, its definately not an easy route (at least for me anyway, I'm a woose) As far as the LS3 goes, you wouldn't believe how inexpensive they are to build. The factory LS3 heads flow better than any aftermarket LS1/2/6 head and are very, very close to LS7 heads at a fraction of the cost. Heck, you can get a set of ported and polished LS3 heads COMPLETE for $1400!! My guess is that in a few years we're going to see some very fast, almost stock LS3 Corvettes. Check out JB's video for example! The motto of this car is "best bang for the buck", that's why it doesnt have an LS7 or a resleeved LS1/LS2. It only has T1 sway bars on it. It's got the stock Z51 shocks and springs. Stock calipers with race pads and the cars had its ride height set, road race alignment and corner balanced. Money isn't really flowing in now, but I'd still like to enjoy the sport. From my experience so far, this seems like the best route for me. BTW, what's going on with your animal? -------------------- 2000 WHITE FRC - A few bolt.. in and on's..

I've pretty much quit wrenching on it for the year as I plan on going into private practice with another guy at the beginning of next year (time to starve for a while). During my last trip to the dyno I made a little over 800rwhp, which is not any improvement from my last two trips. What we discovered is that my intercooler is a bottle neck in that it is not letting me make anymore than 20psi, and I suspect the pressure inbalance is allowing my blow off valve to open slightly under boost. Anyway, I'm removing the ATA intercooler and going to run it on E85. I already have the new bypass pipe/blow off valve installed. Since I will have more space in front of the radiator, I think I'll make a larger radiator to help cool it down a bit in the heat of the summer (it can get to 215 degrees which is a bit much for me). My ATA intercooler severely blocks the rad. I figure removing the intercooler and going a bit larger on the rad. can't hurt anything, and maybe I can even hook up my A/C. The other thing we noticed on the dyno is that the car is driving through the new McLeod Street Twin clutch as soon as the motor starts making somewhere north of 1000fwhp. I called McLeod and they said that although it should not slip.....that is about the end of the world for the regular organic clutch plates. Once again, had someone told me I could install ceramic plates instead (that hold up to 1500 fwhp), I would have went that route. It's always something.... I HATE crawling under that car. At the ripe old age of 43 I'm getting too old for this stuff...
