490hp blown Z06? Thats very low numbers for one. Without seeing the video though I already know they went from a gay roll which means they didnt race at all so their was no loss.

BTW a roll race is a true test of HP, you have eliminated tire spin and launch problems and its all about HP and aerodynamics.

A higher powered car can still lose to a lower powered car in a drag race if traction is not attained, that won't happen from a roll.

Yeah but who cares if a car has more HP. Anyone with money can make a car fast and give it a ton of HP and win a roll race. It takes skill to beat someone in a drag race.

Bullshit. There is no such thing as roll racing for one. And only going from a roll means that you cant drive. Or, in this video, the turbo is too big and he wants to spool it up from a roll so he can wish he was fast which means that his car is weak in my book. And no it does not determine true horsepower. Areodynamics, transmission gearing, rearend gearing, and how gears you have does. Try racing a high stall automatic(the fast cars)on the freeway.

Its funny how rwd v8s talk shit about losing a roll race to a fwd turbo, but when it comes to a high HP awd all they want to do is go from a roll... roll_eyes.gif

Roll races are exactly that RACES. I love Z06s, but no excuses, he got rolled out on by a fwd econobox.

Dont know who youve been racing but last I checked, AWD wont outlaunch RWD. Unless they have a weakass setup. Like freeway heroes who go from a roll to hide their weak setups and driving skills.

i find it hard to believe. In the secound race as the srt pulled away it showed the z06 on the side and there was another set of head lights coming up on the z06. plus the z06 did not sound like it was FI.

You guys read on in the pages? The SRT wouldn't even run him from a dig! ack2.gif

Some guys just want to put the pedal to the floor and let the car do everything for them...

Best ways to race:
1)Road racing- Best way to race. Takes into account how well the person can drive their car, and how well their car is built up.
2) Drag racing from a dig- Still tests the driver's skills, but you take away the twisties and effects of the car's suspension.
3) Roll racing- Boooooorrrring. But, that's all you can usually run into, so ya take what you can get.

Just my $0.02

"not to take anything away from the neon but that is a weak ass procharged Z06. "

That statement is quite vague. I dont think any procharged Z06 is slow. I think that neon was just plain suped up fast!

If you haven't noticed, we V8s have the right to hold double standards. It's in the "Real" Muscle car rule book. tongue.gif

Speaking for myself, I don't really like roll races myself. The only real benefit I find from roll racing is that there's no set place to run so it makes it harder for the cops to intercept the racers. Aside from that, I prefer running from a dig regardless if what I'm running is FWD, RWD, or AWD. It's all for fun for me anyway. If I loose, then I'm pretty sure everyone watching is smart enough to know why. 4 wheels are better then 2 wheels from a dig. Now if there's shit talking after my loss, then I'll have to throw on the stickies for the equalizer and go at it again. If he refuses, then I start the shit talking! tongue.gif

I can take an "L", just as long as you're not a sore winner.

A race is a race. If they agreed to a roll race and the Z lost, then he lost. Now if the Neon was a punk and did not want to go for a dig race, then the Z should not have run him from a roll.

There is another vid of an ATI Z06 beating this same SRT. That particular Z dyno'd @ 529whp. So that SRT has some balls.

Know what is funny though, that same SRT got beat by a Taurus last week. Let me find the vid. I will post it up in OTHER vids section soon.

I agree completely! If you want to measure the true ability of a car & the skill of the driver, take it to a road course. Point-n-shoot from a roll may be fun for a quick thrill, but nothing compared to going all out lap after lap.
drochau
Um 490 is about right at the wheels on a z06 running 8 lbs. of boost on a stock motor where I live (5600 ft.). In fact we just dynoed a stock 02 z06 at 303 at the wheels last week. Could this race have been at altitude?

not true.....unless the RWD drives around on wrinkle walls on a daily basis.

stickest tire ive seen on the street was a 315 DR. i still pulled him on the launch.

Sometimes you'll get them, sometimes you wont. I have'nt been outlaunched by an awd. It could happen easily but I only use DR's. But most people I know drive around on a larger tire than me.

hey VR4, i respect AWD cars, but a properly set up suspension on a rwd car will 60' as well, if not better than a AWD car. for instance, my car, which is a daily driver, on small 275/60/15 drag radials (which is the only tire i use) sixty foot's in the low 1.5 range at the track (best of 1.49), and consistent high 1.5s on the street (according to a G-tech...please dont laugh to hard, i know they arent accurate) drivings.gif
