383 Stroker
Well I just swaped out my dana 36 with a dana 44 rear with 3.45 gears and I am now ready to have a 5151 100 shot wet nos system put in and what I was wondering is will I need a tach? When I had my 383 stroker engine built and installed the tach did not work. I bought a new tach filter and it still did not work. I currently have the A-pillar 2 pod set up with the nos psi gauge and the fuel presure gauge ready to be installed but will I need a additional tach gauge. Thanks!!! biggrin.gif

I don't see why you would. But how do you know when to shift? You can go by feel of course if you know the car, but over time you might drift.

Well my vette is a automatic and I don't manually shift it so that should not be a problem.

Well in that case it should not be a problem. I shift mine manually, it's just more fun to me and I don't like the auto shift points. Although you can lower them by adjusting the throttle cable. But if you have a intake other than the L98 one then you probably fine with the factory shift point, which is 5500 on my car at WOT. This is too high for the L98, I lower the shift points with the cable and I shift it manual at 5000.

As far as the nitrous goes the only major concern is to be at WOT when you spray and I think it needs to be rich if you are spraying heavy. I am not aware of any restrictions that involve the need for a tach.

There is probably some info on this subject on the CF I bet.

Well I had my transmission built to compliment my new engine so the shift points are just right. I did upgrade my intake with the new engine but I still wish I went with the MiniRam or SuperRam but I am sure the nos will make up for it. As for spraying at WOT the progressive kits they have out now are pretty safe in this area. I will be going with all the safety precautions. smile.gif

It depends on the way you want to program the sprays. If you want sequetial sprays, you'll need a window switch and will need to tie it into the tach for the spray and shift parameters.
