I had this sent to me last night. The cobra makes 608rwhp and the ZO6 makes 510rwhp with headers and a tune. I was really hoping the Cobra was going to whoop ass but I'll let you guys make fun of me later.

close race. Cobra could have stay with him even probably if he didn't granny shift so bad.

Wonder what the Z has more than the headers and tune because he is not getting 510rwhp with just those mods

Frankly, this whole thing is suspect. You really can't tell much from this video and the Mustang sounds like it is running very rough. NO Z06 with just headers and a tune will put out 500rwhp. Not no how not no way. dry.gif

What is funny is some bike roars past both cars like they were sitting still. ohmy.gif

Well the guy that sent me the email knows both of the guys and told me that all he has is headers and a tune and ohh shit i forgot to mention a corsa catback. I figured that 510rwhp was a little high. I was kinda expecting around 480rwhp.

I guess the cobra would have been even with him if he didnt granny shift. I was also informed that the zo6 didnt have a passenger either. but ohh well all is fair in war tongue.gif

A corsa cat back means nothing in the way of horsepower increase to the Z. huh.gif

so what you guys are saying that there is now way the zo6 is making 510rwhp with just headers, catback, and tune?

No way Hosea! biggrin.gif At the very best with a great speed density tune perhaps 460 and that is pushing it since we are assuming there has been no change to the air intake which is the greatest "robber" of power in the new "Z". If he also had a good cold air intake I would expect to see power somewhere in the neighborhood of 460 to 475. It really all depends on the tuner and installer.

THEN HOW COME IN THE VIDEO I POSTED IN ANOTHER FORUM WHERE THERE IS A FORD GT RUNNING A BLACK ZO6 THE ZO6 ONLY HAS AN INTAKE TUNE AND CATBACK AND HE CLAIMS HE IS MAKING 488RWHP

The most I have seen with just headers and a tune make from 475-485rwhp depending if they were blessed with a ls7 touched by the hand of God himself

Lots of folks make "claims" about power. I am speaking of what I have seen at several different tuners shops. Those cars (stock) all make the same plus or minus about eight horsepower. SAE corrected of course. That in itself can cause confusion and alter readings. Different dynos can also make some difference but a good tuner keeps his equipment calibrated and accurate. biggrin.gif

What is really interesting about the new "Z" is that crappy air intake. If you dyno a stock "Z" with the hood up and then with the hood down you will see a decrease of about 20 to 30 rwhp. Put in a good cold air intake and you will see an overall increase but even more importantly that increase remains with the hood down on the dyno. In my humble opinion, that is the very first mod I would do to the new "Z" car.

WELL ONE OF THE Z'S THAT I HAVE SEEN DYNOED HAD THE AIRFILTER OUT WHEN THE CAR WAS BEING TESTED BUT I DONT REMEMBER WHAT THE CAR SPUN ON THE DYNO. DOES THE NEW Z PICK UP ANY PONIES WHEN REMOVING THE STOCK AIRFILTER?

I expect it would but I would not advise that procedure. Too easy to suck something into the wrong place! tongue.gif

Ive seen the same thing but on a bone stock 03 cobra but i kinda expected being that it is supercharged with a cheap paper airfilter dry.gif
