No, not that at all. It is a combination of things. Guy signs on to a Vette site and makes an initial post of a Mustang running a Vette, with a title that implies he is the Vette. Then the video shows a Vette running even with a Mustang, and Mustang surges ahead on a gear change. A gear change on a 5 speed will not make that kind of difference if the cars were even before. It is staged and it is obvious the guy just did this in a failed attempt to aggravate people on this site, which is why he is a troll. Unfortunately for this clown he is on the wrong site to try to pull this one off.

It has two comments on the YouTube site, both asking for mod list, which implies the same doubts we are expressing here. It is obvious this is staged. They are dead even through two gears, then the change to 4th and the Stang leaps ahead? Right. The Vette let off, either that or the sound is not the real sound from the video.

I have pulled on cars like this on my 2-3 gear change, but not after they paced me through 1 and 2. I just don't believe this. If they pace me through 1-2 or 2-3 , it is going to be an even run all the way out. Any pull on gear changes will be made up if the cars are even like that through two full gears. I have run some of these late model GT's and I run even with them. They do not pull away on 4th gear change. This one was modified if it ran with a C5 like that, but I am not aware of mods that only apply in 4th gear, unless he hit nitrous on the 4th gear change. See his statement above, he says it was due to the gear change.

If I were a new Vette guy, I wouldn't really worry about an 05 & up Mustang GT. Worry about the 03/04 Cobra's and GT500's, not the poor little 300hp GT's...lol...With all the bolt on mods(normally aspirated), I've seen a few dip in the low 13's. Stock 13.7-14.2. I beat a C6 the other day on the 15fwy and received a little yellow piece of paper with my signature on the bottom for the occassion! lol...Thanks for that C6!! lol...

I think in light of the nationwide law enforcement campaign to shut down street racing, all of us are more worried about those little yellow papers than we are about a contest with any particular car. I haven't been involved in a street contest since last winter and frankly I am not looking for any. At this stage of life I have too much to lose by getting busted at this, and besides this the traffic around my area has got so thick it is nearly impossible to get a clear spot.

I am sure most Vette enthusiasts are well aware of the capabilities of the super charged Cobra's. My dispute is with this particular video, not the capabilities of Mustangs in general.

However, when the new supercharged Vette hits the streets I think it is going to be rough times for the Mustangs. It will not be easy pickings like it has been for several years with the KB Cobra guys. I am sure the new ZR1 is going to put up a good fight against these 7-800 HP Cobras.

I have not been on this site in a long time. The vette is my car, longtubes and tune is all the vette has. The mustang has procharger, exhaust, pullies, cam, built engine, and 410 gears. it is at 610 to the ground, I was in 2nd and he was in third. The race ended before it got real ugly. Yes, he rubs it in as much as possible because I used to do the same to him with my other vette. Sorry for any misconceived trolling on his part and the lack of info. His car will beat me up and down the street......... btw, we only race at night when there is minimal traffic on a loog straight part of the highway......

Thanks for clearing that up. It's not so much a "mustang beat vette" thing it's how it was presented. On another note there is a video in the associated area called how to drive a vette...I enjoyed that one but definitely taboo.

Fair enough. The way he presented himself, and then the clipped vid, looked like a troll to me. With the modifications he has I would have no trouble believing he pulled on a nearly stock C5. If he would have just come on with a straightforward post and decent vid and mod list no one would have objected. Thanks for clearing that up.

Well, what can be said, I misjudged it.

However, there is still something fishy about that vid. With those mods the Stang should have about 2x the HP/TQ as the Vette, the pull should have been a lot harder. The Vette should not have been able to pace the Stang, it should have been a nearly instant pull away by the Stang. I guess if the Stang with a CSC started at mid R's in third there might be some lag, in that case I would expect the Vette to pull first and then the Stang to come back up quickly in the same gear as it approaches red line. The leap at the gear change does not make sense.

So it still looks wrong to me, I am just taking Bro's word for it that we have all the facts.

A stock suspension layout foxbody has no problems at a real track. A 4.10 foxbody is not a freeway car. At a track where actual races occur you guys would see that pull your looking for. All the way down the track.
