Hey Guys,

Here's some video we shot last week!

The 08 C6 has Dynatech 1 &7/8s headers, Vararam, and Borla touring exhaust. The Car was tuned on, and always runs a 91/Torco, for a 95 octane mix. This is all that is done. It dynoed 448 hot, and then made 455 RWHP after a cool down.

On the first 2 passes, the C6 stayed out in front of the Z06, but the Z was right there. On the last pass, we staged the Z06 a car length out front, so as to keep it in the video. I lifted in the early part of the video just a bit, to "restage" the Z06, so as not to lose the shot.

The Z06 driver has put 7000 miles on this car, and by his own account, was quite comfortable in the drivers seat.

The last run is my blown 98, which pulled away hard on the Z. This should be expected, due to a few hundred extra ponies!!

Enjoy,
JB

You may want to start wearing a disguise and driving a riced out honda (is that a repetitive statement). Any way you may not be safe. There is only so much some egos will take.

Well, that's amazing. The new Z06 is almost obsolete already. wacko.gif

JB,

Sorry for the thread hijack, but I am a new member on here and getting ready to buy an 08 corvette. How much did it cost to modify the car? I've had an 03 cobra for a while and can't wait to pick up the car this weekend.

Thanks,

Scott

headers, tune, CAI usually run about 3 grand...give or take a little. Exhaust range from $500 to $1000 typically

I dont know why anyone would be upset(according to the video). They are two very different cars regardless. One was modified to make a little more power than the stock one is all. Your a little more ballsy than me JB. I wouldnt race anyone one lane over from traffic. lol

Funny! Some things are consistent in this world. One thing that is consistent is JB's awesome videos. Some of the things may be offensive to the "non-modded" guys, but to the serious enthuiasts, JB is the king of the street race vids!!! I am sure that the ZO6 guys are up in arms about a C6 LS3 with a few, I repeat, A FEW mods, is faster than a ZO6. If I were to purchase a new Vette, it would be the LS3 and do the same damn mods as JB. I have seen >06 ZO6's run at California Speedway here on the west coast. Seen nothing but a bunch of 12.0's and 12.1's @ apprx. 120.00 mph from those cars. JB stated his car ran 11.8's at the same track I have seen ZO6's go 12.0 and 12.1's. I'm just a dude making an observation of fact! I would like to have a piece of that 08 LS3, probably run extremely close, but the 98', no way-lol....I'll have to wait for the Kenne Belle Blowzilla which isin the works for my 03 Cobra.

Damn it is hard to believe that with a few grand with a new C6, you can hang with a new Z06. I might have to just pick up a ls3 equipped c6 in a couple of years instead of a Z.

Is your car Z51 equipped?

Don't get me wrong, the Z06 is a way better all around car, but straight line performance, my Z51 equipped LS3 gave it a run!!!

How are you everybody? I just registered because I have some interest on this topic. I own a head/cammed 05' and a bolt-on modded 07'Z. Before I modded my 05', I just had basic bolt-ons that yielded about 375 on the dyno. The race between your bolt-on 08' and the 07'Z is not too surprising. The 07'Zs came thru with alot of tourque management tuned into it. I raced my buddy's 07'Z with my 05' at 375RWHP (before the heads/cam) from a slow roll and kept right up with him till about 80mph then he trotted away from me. (we are both good drivers). Then I let my buddy use my MODDED (heads/cam) 05' to race me against my bolt-on, tuned, 07'Z. A race between 448 rwhp and my Z at about 490 rwhp. The Z had tourque management tuned out, headers, a Vararam, ported intake and throttle body. Raced from about 50mph on...my Z DESTROYS my 05' every time. It would be my opinion that if the Z you raced had a simple tune, it would have been an even race even though you probably had a gearing advantage with the Z-51. Great site!

Welcome to CKS !! I didnt know the vette had a tune to control tq, or is it a engine/power management tool? This is where I get dumb blond on tuning.
