Yes I am afraid you are a ricer. Don't take it too seriously!
Definition - any car of Asian origin.
Colloquial use in American Muscle lingo - usually refers to economy Asian cars that have been modified to perform better, or appear to perform better.
So yes, a turbo 4 cylinder car of Asian origin would be referred to as a ricer even if it was one of these 800Hp EVO.
In reality, some American manufacturers have put their name on some ricers, so these cars will often be referred to as ricers. Ex. Cobalt SS, STI, etc.
The term ricer is often used with some measure of contempt directed at the drivers of these cars, due to three factors: (1) complete ignorance of things automotive, (2) elaborate, tacky decoration of the cars, and (3) the incredibly annoying sound of the buzzy mufflers.
A typical ricer would reason thus - "my new WRX has 300 HP. The 1985 Vette has 225 HP. Therefore it is obvious I will easily beat a 1985 Vette since I have 75 more HP."
These are the ones I enjoy beating up on (when they challenge me - I do not call them out). They have no clue as to the significance of big V8 torque. Torque is what wins these brief street contests, not horsepower. I have surprised many a turbo ricer with my modest carriage, even some modified ones. They have a narrow band near peak RPM where their car will accelerate faster than mine. However, across the RPM spectrum, mine is generally faster unless they are heavily modified, such as a larger turbo/higher boost. Typical scenario, 40 roll, they match pace with me up to about 60, then they start to pull. As they are turning on flashers, I drop into third and blow by them like they are sitting still.
From all appearances you do not seem to be one of these types, so if the shoe doesn't fit, don't wear it.
My thought - enjoy your car, whatever it is, and don't make it a point to hunt big game until you have a larger gun. That Z06 you mentioned will fit the bill nicely.
